We all know that Valentine’s Day is a hallmark holiday. I recently went to Michael’s craft store to pick up some supplies and was completely inundated with Valentine’s Day paraphernalia. Everywhere I went I could see red and pink construction paper, cupid stamp sets, heart-shaped sparkle bags, and do-it-yourself kids card kits. But the takeover isn’t limited to Michael’s: Valentine’s Day is everywhere. All you have to do is step out the front door. Every convenience store, every corner store is stocked to the brim with stuffed bears holding plush hearts, heart-shaped boxes of chocolates, and cards with little kids kissing (bleck!). And, let’s be honest, it’s sickening.
Now, I might object to the methods, but realistically there’s nothing wrong with taking some time to celebrate the important people in your life. So, to avoid all that terrible tack, I’m combed through our dingbats to give you all a few ideas for the big day.
I found the images below …
Now, you might be wondering what on earth I could do with those silly images … just take a look below. I hope you get some ideas, too.

For this card I colourized the image of the little kids reading and I added the caption: Hey, I like your socks.

Here I used the hot air balloon. I made the balloon pink so it would stand out from the background and added a caption.

For this card I added some colour to the roses in the rose bush. There's no text on the outside here, but I put some on the inside.

I used the rose image several times in this card. I thought the intricacy of the rose went well with the old-style text.
Happy card making! Until next time … Porcupette out!
The image of the children reading is from Brazil, the rose is from Primer, and the hot air balloon and the rose bush are from Miscellany.
