This weekend, some friends and I piled into the car, wheels pointed toward Stratford, Ontario for a rather good production of Carousel. We arrived a mere half hour before our show at the Avon Theatre, just enough time to wander down the street and visit a delightful little bookstore named Book Stage.
It was just the kind of bookstore I like best—book piled to the ceiling and on every available surface. New and used, hardcover and paperback, all blended together in blissful literary harmony.
Plus, a rather startling number of titles on offer just happened to be from the Porcupine’s Quill! Scroll down for a selection of photos from this charming shop.

Found the wordless novels and illustrated books section. Do you think we are well represented in this selection?
And there you have it. Any half hour spent in a lovely little book shop is a half hour well spent in my book. Next time you’re in Stratford, be sure to stop by and browse their wonderful wares. Wish I’d had the time to make it to Fanfare Books as well, but that will have to be my destination for the next trip!
Hope you enjoyed this little virtual visit. Cheers!
As an old author trying to enter the 21st C. and survive the electronic age, I’m comforted by your BLOG, but also feel like we’re all among the Last of the Liter-ites. There are readers — and writers — beyond the Ontario border. Please keep sending me you BLOG and I’ll READ you. Porcupines Quill is the greatest.
