As many of you have already discovered, Leon Rooke and Tony Calzetta’s Fabulous Fictions and Peculiar Practices is unlike anything you’ve seen before. From awesome artwork to wacky words to delicious design, this is truly a book lover’s book. But the best way to appreciate this feat of literary greatness is to browse inside, which might be a little bit difficult to do if you can’t get some hands-on time at a book fair or indie bookstore. In keeping, we’re going to take a page from YouTube’s book and give you a tour of some of the book’s best features in true “unboxing” style.

The matte cover is rather minimalist, but offers hints at the tongue-in-cheek nature of the interior. Just get a load of that subtitle, and the rather naughty stylized manicule below.

Get a load of the table of contents. The titles alone impart the unusual and amusing nature of the texts.

Perhaps the most impressive part of the whole book is this reproduction of “How God Talks in His Sleep”. This foldout mimics the original, limited edition paper sculpture.

The interior design is carefully considered to not only suit the images, but also to be beautiful in its own right.
These are just some of the spectacular spreads you’ll find inside this gem of a book. Be sure to get your copy to fully appreciate the wit and talent and fun that went into the creation of this book.
I hope you found this “unboxing” post to be interesting and informative. Sometimes peeking inside isn’t enough—sometimes a good, solid page-through is needed to fully appreciate a work of art like this one!
