The Thing about … Freebies on the eStore!

Extra, extra! Read all about it! Freebies! That’s free stuff!

As you know if you’re a faithful blog follower and newsletter subscriber, we occasionally like to give away bits and bobs from our catalogue. In order to make such freebies easier, we’ve begun the process of adding them to our PQL eStore as Free Downloads.

We have currently set up three categories of Free Downloads—Catalogues, Broadsides and Chapbooks—and have the ability to add more in the future, such as, perhaps curated dingbat collections or other design materials.

The Catalogues section will contain recent PQL catalogues, organized by season. We have uploaded the Spring 2020 Catalogue, featuring our upcoming titles, for you to download and peruse.

The Broadsides section will contain lovely high-resolution printable poems designed by PQL Publisher Tim Inkster. We’ve started with “Not the Sweet Cicely of Gerardes Herball” by Margaret Avison, which appeared as part of the concert visual for U2’s Joshua Tree 30th Anniversary Tour.

Finally, the Chapbooks page is intended to provide free “bonus” content related to our various publications. For example, the first chapbook to be uploaded is Tim Inkster’s “The Thing about Major Street”, a fantastic behind-the-scenes look at the challenges and delights of preparing and publishing Leon Rooke’s novel The House on Major Street. Other future chapbooks might include previously unpublished extra essays, chapters or articles related to our published books.

As mentioned, all of these catalogues, broadsides and chapbooks will be completely free. Simply head over to the PQL eStore’s Free Downloads page, browse the available downloads, and click “Add to Cart” for any you wish to acquire. Once you’ve done that, click “Checkout”, then review and submit your order. (Pro tip: create a free account in the eStore so it will remember your checkout information. We’re working on streamlining the checkout process, but for now, the simplest, fastest way to complete your download is to have an account ready to go.)

You’ll quickly get an email confirming your free order, and providing you with a download link for the file. (You can also access the download link from your account if you lose the email or the download in the future.) If you don’t see the email after a few minutes, be sure to check your junk folder—and add us to your safe list!

And there you have it—three freebies for your reading pleasure. Be sure to check back for more new freebies periodically!
