We take a certain measure of delight in celebrating the festive season with what has become a long-running tradition here at the Porcupine’s Quill–the PQL Holiday Giveaway. Throughout the month of December, we shower our loyal readers, followers, subscribers and supporters with little literary gifts to enjoy. This year, we’re kicking off our Holiday Giveaway with a free download for all!
The latest issue of the Devil’s Artisan, our journal of the printing arts, features curator Tom Smart’s exploration into the work of West Coast printmaker Richard York. And it’s good timing, too, because York is visiting Toronto for a number of events intended to promote the release of the issue, including:
- an artist’s talk at the Mira Godard Gallery on Hazelton Avenue on Friday, December 9;
- a presentation at the Bound Book Arts Fair in the boardroom of the Arts & Letters Club on Elm Street on Sunday, December 11; and
- at the Arts & Letters Club on Monday, December 12
For more detailed information, consult our events page.
To celebrate, you can download a free chapbook by Tom Smart, entitled Richard York’s Artistic Journey. Get your copy by visiting the chapbook’s information page at store.porcupinesquill.ca, adding it to your cart, and checking out for free!
While you’re there, don’t miss the other freebies available in the eStore, including additional chapbooks bookmarks, broadsides and catalogues. And you can also shop around for affordable digital editions of the Devil’s Artisan, including the latest issue.
We hope to see you this weekend at one of the various events going on. At the very least, you’ll want to visit the Bound Book Arts Fair, where you’ll be able to shop for all kinds of printed goods for the book arts fan in your life.
