This week, our PQL Holiday Giveaway whisks us away to the pleasures of poetry! We recently introduced the latest volume in the Essential Poets Series, The Essential Eugene McNamara, at a wonderful launch in Windsor, Ontario, a place that was near and dear to McNamara’s heart. Now, we’re offering up a free copy of this new addition, plus two others for good company!
Why You Want This Bundle
The Essential Poets Series provides readers with an excellent opportunity to learn about, or regain appreciation for, some of Canada’s most influential poets. Each volume contains a critical introduction by a notable poet as well a critical biography and a bibliography for further reading. Plus, every volume happens to be pretty darned beautiful, with covers featuring stipple engravings from Pierre-Joseph Redouté’s Les liliacées. They certainly do look lovely displayed together on a shelf.

This bundle contains our three most recent Essentials Volumes:
In The Essential Eugene McNamara, poetry pushes the barriers of language and grammar, daring to convey raw emotion with disarming empathy.
In The Essential John Glassco, technical giftedness and unimpeachable wordplay bring music and flair to poems characterized by darkness and decay.
In The Essential Elizabeth Brewster, questioning, conversational poetry melds the private and the collective, exploring the challenges of constructing selfhood and voicing historically silenced female perspectives.

All the best,

I knew Gene McNamara and had begun his graduate writing seminar when offered a job with Harrowsmith & Equinox magazines (an offer I could not resist) and so, sadly, I did not complete his course. I’m a fan of the Quill and would love the Glassco and Brewster collections too — a fine series.
